  • From Barbara Mihan on Cyclops Toys

Hi, As an Australian doll historian and researcher, it is interesting to see the page on Pedigree vinyl dolls which, in actual fact, were all made at Moldex, Darebin Road, Fairfield, Victoria which, in the 1960s was owned by Cyclops. The dolls shown here were marketed from 1963 to 1965.
If I am able to send pics to you, I could supply references. I do have some of those dolls shown including Little Red Riding Hood.

Sorry Tony to inform you, that your red Stake Truck is not a Thomas Hore but was made by Toltoys. All the Hore made toys that I have come across are all clearly marked by the manufacturer. I have a 1970 advertisement for this Toltoy range and a photo with my son on his second birthday pulling/holding his stake truck.
Sadly the truck has disappeared into the mists of time.

  • From Barbara Mihan on Marquis Plastic Toys

Tony, You should ,like me, spend many hours at the Victorian State Library top end of Swanston Street and peruse The Toy and Hobby Retailer Reps magazines that reside there. The company began in 1935 and there was a WW2 interuption but I think the mags begin at the library from 1948. The Jaffa Company still prints them today but have now moved to Sydney. During those early years there is a wealth of information among them which by necessity was mostly Australian made.

    Hi Tony,

My father in law has a huge collection of matchbox cars, still in their boxes, close to 600 cars. He is interested in getting an idea of the value of his collection. Are you able to help or guide us to someone who can?

    Thanks in advance,

    Kind regards,
