    • From Tony on Thomas Hore Toys

      Hi

Yes they did do spacemen. There were some up for sale on eBay recently. I did not bid as while I would like them, I do not really collect space items and there has to be a limit. At least that is what I tell myself ๐Ÿ™‚

      cheers

      Hi Raymond

Thanks for the reference. I think this is the link to it http://trove.nla.gov.au/work/11370882?q=subject%3A%22Toys+–+Collectors+and+collecting+–+Australia+–+Catalogs.%22&c=book which says that it was issued in 2004. I’d like to get a copy if anyone has it.

  • From Wally Evans on Dinky Toys

Hi Tony, I have a vintage wooden pull toy. It’s a kangaroo dressed in what appears to be a school uniform. It’s 9 3/4 inches long. 6 inches tall and has AMUSU Toy printed in very small letters on the kangaroos trousers. Can’t find any reference to it online. I’m in Pennsylvania USA hence the reference in inches. We’re still oddly resisting the metric system. Walter

      Hi Walter

The only reference that I am aware of that may be related is http://collections.museumvictoria.com.au/items/1345766 which is an electric question and answer game from 1933. The AMUSU brand is in there and a definite Australian theme. Thanks for the reference, I’d appreciate some photos of the kangaroo.

      cheers

  • From Graeme Atkinson on Streamlux Toys

Hi Tony….Brentoys were also the official licence in Australia for all of the Hopalong CASSIDY die cast guns etc. Do you have much info on Aussie brands such as Boomeroo? They only made pressed steel vehicles….Winna did a lot of pressed steel too.
Also, those Hardray cars were not always marked…ditto Pope. I have a nice little racing car, definitelyHardray, but no markings anywhere. Cheers

    • From Tony on Streamlux Toys

      Hi Graeme

Hopalong Cassidy, thats another great memory ! I’ll need to add that cap gun/guns to my search list.

I do not have much on Boomaroo or WynToy but I am keen to find any advertising materials from these early Australian manufacturers.

Pope cars not being marked ? I was only aware of them making one car, are you saying there are others ?

Do you know what the F.H.E. references on the models. I am still trying to confirm what the initials are for.

      Thanks for visiting the site.

      cheers
      Tony

  • From Darren on Micro Models - Australia

I have a tiny metal ( pewter lead ) HK Monaro solid great detail sits on a twenty cent piece some one said its from a early board game Monaro but I cannot find a 1960,s pic off one help it’s driving me nuts thanks PS it has no writing on it

    • From Tony on Micro Models - Australia

      Hi Darren

The only thing I am aware of that might relate is the board game “Touring Australia with Holden” that had a green HK Kingwood on the box lid and a red one on the board. There were player pieces, like Monopoly tokens that were Holden models that would be the size you mentioned. That said I do not have any detailed photos and do not know if the playing pieces were plastic or metal, painted or bare metal. It might be totally un-related.

      cheers

      Hi Raymond

I am only aware of the information from Craig Hall’s book, Breakfast Barons, Cereal Critters and the Rosenhain and Lipmann Legacy. Issued in 1958 it was referenced as a Colt Six-Shooter on the Kellogg Corn Flakes packet and it was only available as a ‘send-away’ item. You needed 3 tokens and there were only 2 on a King Size Corn Flakes box, so you (your Mum!) had to buy 2 boxes to get the tokens and then you needed to add 4/- shillings as the currency was then (the equivalent of 50cents for the decimal currency readers). The cereal box offered both the Colt Revolver and a Deputy Sheriffs star Badge to kids who joined the Kelloggs Wild West Club.

      cheers

  • From Philip J Heidorf on A Collector of Antique Toys

hello Tony, I have an old Charbens toy car says Charbens on one side and on the other it says Mabe England . It has yellow plastic wheels and looks like a 1920’s car
and is painted green. My Dad died and it was in with his stuff in the attic. I was wondering what it would be worth?

      Hi Philip

Sounds like it will be an ‘Old Crock’ series model probably under 2″ in length?
