A recent acquisition is this Louis Marx Train Set complete from the original owner.
The set is with its original box and instruction sheets. The oval of track has been fitted to a sheet of timber using a simple copper wire loop through some small holes in the timber on one track tie per track section. The track includes a straight with a de-coupling unit and a curve with the power link. Otherwise the track is just a simple oval.
From the box this Louis Marx Train Set is model 48-21325M and it appears to be complete for that set.
The locomotive shows running number 490 and appears to be the smoking locomotive and tender, catalog number 666SM / 03951A.
The other wagons include 05554 Hopper Car, 05556 Santa Fe Caboose, 05585 Auto Car with 4 Autos, and 05595/1 Operating Box Car.
There is a loading dock platform which must be used to trigger the Operating Box Car workman but is not listed in the catalog as separate item.
The 110V transformer has been used with a 240 to 110 step-down converter since the owner emigrated from the USA to Australia around 1970. The set was purchased in the USA in 1967 for his then 3 year-old son. The set had been used regularly but as interest waned in the family he offered it to me and I am pleased to add this to my collection of old toys.
